Tammy Greenhalgh (pron: Green-HALJ)
Born and bred in Orange, Tammy attended Glenroi Heights Public School before relocating to Mudgee, then Sydney and the Central Coast. In 2002, after marrying her husband Jason in Orange but still living on the Central Coast, it was clear that The Colour City was home, and they soon relocated to start their family with Harry and Jack arriving in the years that followed. Both the boys had a passion for Rugby League and other sports including touch football, cricket, little athletics, and water skiing, and it was as a dedicated footy mum that Tammy’s involvement in local sporting committees first began. Tammy has held a position on the Executive of Bloomfield JRLFC for twelve years, and more recently has become a member of Orange City Junior Cricket Club and a volunteer at Ronald McDonald House. In 2021 she was named NSW Rugby League Regional Volunteer of The Year. Tammy has worked at several local businesses in Orange and is currently employed as a Regional Business Development Executive in the hospitality industry. She is keen to bring energy, enthusiasm, innovation and a female perspective to the Orange City Council through a range of community initiatives. She is a vocal advocate for striving to provide a well-rounded community for families, and is motivated to develop Orange as sport and recreation hub for the region. Providing support for juvenile mental health facilities and programs that are in high demand for today’s generation. After the death of her son Harry in 2020 and struggling with her grief journey, Tammy joined a fellow bereaved parent to establish a local chapter of the Compassionate Friends Group for bereaved parents to offer guidance and support. Tammy has now been a chapter leader for two years, and it's clear this service is needed with parents travelling from as far as Grenfell to attend meetings. Tammy believes it is important that Orange keeps moving in a positive direction as a cultural, educational and tourism hub that is inclusive and accessible for all. Tammy was first elected to Orange City Council in 2021. |
